Juergen Teller In The Forest

Juergen Teller

"Irene im Wald"

The Journal Gallery

Often associated with his provocative nudes, flash-filled portraits, and fashion portfolios, Juergen Teller has chosen a much more personal narrative for his series “Irene im Wald”—literally, “Irene in the Forest.” Currently on view at Brooklyn’s The Journal Gallery, the exhibition alternates between intimate color landscapes of the forest near Teller’s childhood home and portraits of his family members, most prominently his mother, Irene. Personal anecdotes and memories from the Teller’s childhood run below some of the photographs, revealing his sentimental side.
